This Lynnwood Kitchen Remodel took a cramped, disconnected townhome kitchen and turned it into an open, functional space the homeowners actually enjoy using. Like many townhomes in the Lynnwood area, the original layout wasted space — the island blocked flow, storage was scarce, and several nearby areas sat unused.
The Challenge
The existing kitchen island created a bottleneck between the kitchen and living area, and the low bar top didn’t offer enough usable counter space. Nearby, a dead corner off the dining area and an awkward nook near the kitchen were doing nothing for the homeowners.
The Solution
As part of this Lynnwood kitchen remodel, we removed the old island entirely and raised the bar top height, converting it into a peninsula. This opened up the flow between the kitchen and living area while adding more usable storage and seating. We then reclaimed the unused nook and built a coffee bar with an under-counter beverage center — a small footprint that adds a lot of everyday function. In the dining area, we built a custom china cabinet into what had been dead space, giving the homeowners elegant, built-in storage without eating into the room’s footprint.
Materials & Finishes
The kitchen countertops are book-matched quartz, chosen for a seamless, high-end look across the peninsula. The coffee bar and china cabinet feature black leathered granite, adding contrast and texture that ties the spaces together without competing with the kitchen’s clean quartz lines.
New Appliances
To match the upgraded space, we installed a full suite of new KitchenAid commercial-style appliances, including a microwave drawer — a space-saving choice that keeps the peninsula’s clean lines intact.
The Results
The result is a kitchen and living area that finally works with the townhome’s layout instead of against it. Storage, flow, and everyday usability were the priorities throughout this Lynnwood kitchen remodel, and every change — from the peninsula to the coffee bar to the built-in cabinet — was made to solve a real problem the homeowners were living with.
