This Snohomish Complete Custom Home Renovation transformed an ’80s NW contemporary into a new modern view sanctuary and entertaining masterpiece — expansive, yet comfortable and family-friendly. This was a complete down-to-studs remodel of almost 5,700 sq ft of living space with a 180-degree view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Working with two amazing clients and bringing this Snohomish project to fruition was a wonderful experience. Everything from the roof to the siding to the interior was completely redone. The home was retrofitted with a complete smart home system that can be accessed from anywhere on your phone.

A Renovation Built Around the View
With a 180-degree outlook over the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the design goal for this Snohomish complete custom home renovation was simple: don’t let the structure compete with the scenery. We reworked the floor plan to open up sightlines from the main living areas, replaced dated window openings with larger expanses of glass, and rebuilt the exterior siding and roofline to give the home a cleaner, more contemporary profile that matches the setting.

Why a Full Down-to-Studs Approach
At nearly 5,700 square feet, this home had good bones but an ’80s layout that no longer matched how the clients wanted to live. Rather than a partial update, we took the project down to the studs — rewiring, replumbing, and reframing where needed — so every system in the home, not just the finishes, matched the same modern standard.

Smart Home, Start to Finish
The retrofit included a full smart home system covering lighting, climate, and security, all accessible remotely. It’s the kind of integration that’s far easier to build in during a full renovation than to retrofit into finished walls later, and it’s become a common request from Snohomish and greater Puget Sound clients undertaking similar whole-home projects.
